Stirling Castle Pictures

Stirling Castle Garden
Queen Anne Garden inside the walls of Stirling Castle. A green grass lawn area leads up to a wide flower bed filled with flowers and greenery of white, pink, bule, purple, yellow and red flowers. Behind the flowers are the castle walls of gray and yellowish stones with the iconic round tower.

The Great Hall at Stirling Castle. This is the largest great hall in Scotland. The room is long and narrow with walls painted a light white. The ceiling is magnificent with wooden beams that appear to be like a ship's hull. Down from the ceiling is a row of windows then dark green curtains line the walls. This room was set for a play so it is filled with red chairs.

From the castle courtyard you can see the entrance to the Great Hall. The outside of the building is painted the "kings gold" which is a yellowish gold. Next to the Great Hall is the Chapel Royale that is in its natural stone.

Looking east from the castle outer wall you can see the town of Stirling stretch out below. On the next mountain over is the tall tower-like Wallace Monument. Behind the monument are the rocky hills of Scotland.

Entrance to Stirling Castle. The stone walkway leads up to the arched entrance of the castle. On either side of the arch are two statutes - one of William Wallace and one of Robert the Bruce. Beside each statute are the cut outs for the archers to shoot through. Above the statutes is the emblem of Scotland - a red lion on a yellow shield background. Decorative stone work add to the grand entrance.

Altar in the Chapel Royale. The altar is draped with a multi-colored fabric. The bottom is a silver scalloped edge, then a light silvery blue stripe, a dark maroon stripe, and a red satin type fabric. The top is a gold and white patterned overlay. On the altar are two candle sticks and a bible on a stand. Behind the altar is a large two-story high arched window. The walls are painted a dark "kings gold" color.
