Windsor Castle is one of my favorite places on earth. The centuries old castle is still so elegant and regal. The Castle is the largest occupied castle in the world and remains a working castle.
In fact, the one of the days we were there the Queen was in residence. There was a flurry of activity as several cars preceded up the drive to the Queen’s apartment. It was the time of the Royal Ascot and the cars were to take members of the royal family to the racetrack. We crowded around the window to try to catch a glimpse of the royal family. Alas, they have that orchestrated so well that it was all under cover. We could only guess at who was behind the tinted windows!
Since Windsor Castle is a working residence of the Queen, no photographs are allowed inside. Here are some pictures of the Castle Grounds. For more information on Windsor Castle: Royal Residences | Windsor Castle – Royal.uk

This excerpt from The Royal Palaces – Windsor Castle, “In the 1360s Edward III, who was born at Windsor, extended the Castle. He created the immense St. George’s Hall for the use of the Knights of his newly founded Order of the Garter. Ten British monarchs now lie buried in the chapel: Edward IV, Henry VI, Henry VIII, Charles I, George III, George IV, William IV, Edward VII, George V and George VI.”
On our second trip to Windsor, we were able to stay for the Evensong service. Approximately 40 guests were escorted into the nave and seated. A choir of mostly men and boys then led the service. For more information on Evensong – Choral Evensong.
